Because sometimes the Word needs to really pop.

The woman said to Jesus, “Sir, you have no bucket, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water?

John 4:11

Why Deep Well?

Jesus’ longest conversation in the Bible is with a woman from Samaria who knows intimately the importance of water. She hauls it up daily from a deep well outside her city. But when she meets Jesus, she discovers an even deeper well standing right in front of her: a well of Living Water that never runs dry.

As a person of faith, I have many deep wells that I turn to for restoration and refreshment. Each offers me a way into the Living Water that runs beneath them all. This site celebrates…

a Deep Well of creativity that opens us to falling in love with God all over again.

a Deep Well of tradition that roots us in the tried-and-true path of our ancestors in faith. (For me, that’s the Reformed theological tradition.)

a Deep Well of God’s presence that fills us with peace, strength, and love beyond our own capabilities.

a Deep Well of experience that reminds us what God has done, and can do again.

I believe that when we tap into these deep wells, sources of hope and resiliency within us, we become deeply well ourselves. When we’re raw and thirsty for a splash of grace, these deep wells fill us with fresh faith for the work of loving ourselves, our neighbors, and the world that God made.
